Here is a bit about each board member, including declarations of any other directorships and any substantial shareholdings.

Nick Black is a Director of the OSM Foundation and a member of its Board. Nick first discovered OSM whilst studying for a Masters degree at University College London’s Department of Geomatic Engineering in 2006. Since then he’s been involved in various aspects of the projects including mapping, hacking and organising conferences and other events. After graduating from UCL, Nick lead research and development into open source mapping technologies at Get Mapping, before co-Founding CloudMade in 2007. Within the OSM Foundation, Nick is the Chair of the State of the Map 2009 group and the Local Chapters working group.

Etienne Cherdlu, real name George James, (Director, Treasurer) discovered OpenStreetMap in December 2005. His main attraction to OSM is the ability to combine a number of leisure time interests into one activity. He hopes to help OSM to grow as big as and to be as successful as Wikipedia. He has a degree in philosophy from the University of Hull. He has worked in the IT industry since 1978, mainly in the UK and US. He has owned and managed a successful software business for the last 17 years. The business has no commercial connections or interests in GIS or cartography or any related field.

Steve Coast (Director, Chairman) is the founder of OpenStreetMap. Steve has worked in many heavy lifting computing applications before co-founding a web consultancy firm with Nick Black in 2006. In 2008 this became CloudMade after investment by Sunstone Capital.

Michael Collinson (Director) is a technical entrepreneur currently based in Sweden and a contributor to the OpenStreetMap project since 2005. A keen hiker, cyclist and an early career in oil exploration geophysics fostered a fascination with maps, remote-sensing and geo-referenced information. He first joined the OSMF board in 2007 and acts as membership secretary. He is currently working on artificial intelligence techniques for a hedge-fund start up, Stiernegrip Trading Strategies, and is Managing Director of Xave Pty Ltd., a software development company.

Henk Hoff (Director) is an IT consultant with a focus on neogeography.  He lives in the Netherlands.  Henk discovered OSM in the spring of 2006 and is an active contributor as mapper and speaker.
He joined the OSMF board in 2008.

Mikel Maron is a software developer specializing in web mapping and collaborative tech. He’s based in San Francisco, but is not there very much. Mikel started with OpenStreetMap in 2005, is currently serving his second year on the board, and advocates free and open mapping in the developing world. He co-founded Mapufacture, which was acquired by FortiusOne in August 2008. Mikel is currently a paid advisor to JumpStart International, which is producing a public domain map of Palestine, and an invited expert to UN Geographic Information Working Group.

Andy Robinson (Secretary/Director) is a professional Civil Engineer (Tunnelling) based in the UK and long time contributor to the OpenStreetMap project having signed up in September 2005. Andy has a keen interest in maps as well as a desire to see geographic and related data more widely available to the public. He first joined the OSMF board in 2007. Andy currently administers funds received personally from Cloudmade Ltd to run mapping events in the UK.
